A WALK IN THE WOODLANDS
The overall concept and vision for the project is to provide “…recreational and social opportunities, as well as a low maintenance lifestyle and enable independent seniors the ability to enjoy their golden years with other seniors.” This concept a “Walk in the Woodlands,” is meant to create an inspiring community that embraces the wooded site, elevation changes and golf course views while featuring craftsman style finishes along meandering walking/biking paths, and exquisite gardens, surrounded by majestic trees that are preserved for the benefit of the community and surrounding neighborhood. The goals are to create an active senior community that promotes healthy living through indoor and outdoor activities, while also creating important social spaces for gathering, sharing and enriching the lives of residents. The Walk in the Woodlands creates a vibrant community that embraces the wholeness inspired by natural beauty.
Walk in the Woodlands houses approximately 252 apartments for active seniors two mid-rise residential buildings each with its own community space and common area amenities, a clubhouse with amenities designed for seniors, as well as management and maintenance facilities.
The target population includes adults aged 62 or older, including empty nesters and church and community members looking for a change in lifestyles. The target residents will be those seeking a community with a high level of amenities and socialization opportunities.
The Project is anticipated to contain a mix of one- and two-bedroom units as guided by market demand and available financing. Of the total units, approximately 80-85%% will be affordable for seniors earning 60% or less of the area median income. The remaining units will be market rate units that are not income/rent-restricted.
