Pastor Kendra Smith

Passion. Faith. Creativity. Vision. That’s Pastor Kendra Smith, a leader with a fire in her spirit for God and for people. She’s been blessed to preach, teach and facilitate workshops at churches, community organizations, and schools throughout the United States as well as internationally.

Pastor Kendra is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church where she is the founder and Pastor of Rivers of Life AME Church in Greenbelt, Maryland. Pastor Kendra launched Rivers of Life on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 with the purpose of reaching the “thirsty” inspired by Jesus’ words to the woman at the well, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Before accepting her call to pastor and plant a church, Pastor Kendra served as the Senior Minister to Youth and Young Adults at Hunter Memorial AME Church under the pastoral leadership and guidance of Rev. Harold B. Hayes, Jr. and Rev. Kellie V. Hayes.  Pastor Kendra also earned valuable non-profit management experience as the Director of Residential Services for Covenant House Washington, where she worked with homeless young adults and youth living in high-risk situations.

Pastor Kendra loves community demonstrated by her experience as a trainer and facilitator for the Suitland Youth Build Program, the Alternative to Suspension Program for Prince George’s County Public Schools and professional consulting services in the areas of Workforce and Youth Development for adjudicated youth in the District of Columbia.
Pastor Kendra received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Hampton University and her Masters of Divinity Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC with an emphasis in Urban Ministry.

She is the proud mother of Mariama JoAnn Smith and the grandmother of Karter Noelle where they reside in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Most importantly, Pastor Kendra loves the Lord with all of her heart, soul and mind and is grateful to be a servant of the Almighty God!
