About Stewardship/Finance Boards and Ministries
At Reid Temple, we believe what the Bible says in I John 4:8, that God has given to us out of a spirit of love because “God is love.” Because of this, the persons selected to serve as offices and leaders of our church take great care to handle the resources of the church responsibly. As Pastor Washington teaches us, Christian stewardship is multi-dimensional and more than money management. More than fund-raising, it is “faith-raising”—a spiritual attitude of gratefulness to God for all things. It is an attitude and a way of collecting, utilizing, applying, and saving resources that acknowledges God our Creator as the source of all we have and all we will obtain.
The organizations and ministries that make up the Stewardship and Finance Commission are committed to the stewardship of the human, physical, technical, and financial resources of our church. The members of these organizations are selected in accordance with the guidelines outlined in The Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The ministry leaders and workers are persons who serve the needs of the Pastor, membership, and other ministries.
If you have the “attitude’ consistent with that of a servant’s heart, along with earthly skills and expertise in organizational or financial management, business, logistics, catering, or event planning and management—please consider becoming involved in one of Reid Temple’s Stewardship and Finance ministries.
