The Fishes and Loaves Ministry provides structure, consistency, oversight, and staffing for food services at ministry events and activities on both Reid Temple campuses. It was intended primarily to serve nutritious meals for ministry workers such as choirs, parking attendants, and security volunteers; however, the demand for food services at church-sponsored functions has resulted in this ministry preparing and serving over 400 meals weekly to College Outreach Ministry students, the homeless, ministry event attendees, guests, and others. Fishes and Loaves Ministry members also manage and maintain Reid Temple’s full-service on-site kitchen and catering services. Their duties include ordering and storing food supplies, managing food inventories, maintaining and scheduling repairs for the church’s food service equipment, scheduling food-related events, and coordinating food service volunteers. The members of this ministry are passionate about the proper preparation and serving of what goes into the body. Most are certified as food handlers by the local authorizing board, as are those who volunteer as servers and event assistants.
