Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

The Eight-Step Program Overview:

The signature Reid Temple Eight-Step Discipleship Development Program was developed and introduced by Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington in 2004.  This is a certificate program for personal self-assessment of spiritual growth as an effective Christian disciple and steward.

The eight steps outline the process that starts at the time you join the church through New Members Orientation, Bible Study, the Andrew Plan, ministry involvement, evangelism, and ministry leadership. Each step has specific expectations and actions. The Reid Temple Eight-Step Discipleship Development Program booklet outlines these expectations and actions and it isavailable in the bookstores at the Glenn Dale and North campuses.

Reid Temple now has two training opportunities to complete the Eight-Step Program: “Boot Camp” and “Membership to Discipleship.” In addition to these options, the On-line Book Clubwas introduced to provide members with another opportunity for deeper study and growth.

What is Boot Camp?

Phase 1 of the Reid Temple Discipleship Development Program is the church’s signature Eight-Step Program, developed by Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington.  Introduced in 2004, the Eight Step Program incorporates the completion of Boot Camp, the bible-based discipleship training program, to provide members with the opportunity to follow Jesus and know Him in a new and more intimate way. During the course of two 4-week modules, participants are guided through a self-assessment of their own spiritual growth to become the most effective Christian disciples and stewards they can become.

Boot Camp covers the 10 sessions contained in the Boot Camp Manual. The 10 sessions are divided into easy-to-read lessons that are presented in the two 4 week modules on-line (Monday through Friday) and in the classroom (Saturday and Sunday). The Boot Camp sessions are taught by the ministerial staff from February through October of each year.

Boot Camp participants receive a certificate of completion of the program based on weekly participation.
