Rev. Hermia "Mia" Shegog Whitlock

The Reverend Hermia Anita Shegog Whitlock, affectionately known as “Mia,” is First Lady and Executive Minister at Reid Temple AME Church, where she teaches, preaches, and sings. Rev. Mia’s love of and service to God and His people was expressed early in her life as the “baby daughter” of seven children to the late Rev. Henry Louis and Mrs. Nannie Lee (Barnes) Shegog. From her baptism (at age five) and involvement in youth activities at Zion Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, to her work at both the 1st African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, California, and Christ Our Redeemer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Irvine, California, Rev. Mia has lived a life of service to others through church ministries, church-affiliated organizations, and community organizations.
