Monthly Communities

At Reid Temple we ensure that every member is connected. One of the ways we do this is through the Communities. Each member is placed in a Community according to their birth month.

New Member's Orientation

New Members Orientation is a four-part learning experience for all new members to the Reid Temple family that is designed to ensure a smooth transition for new and transferring members. There are four standardized classes in the history, doctrine, and discipline of the AME church. Attendees are also instructed in the effective practice of Bible Study.  In addition to learning about the doctrine and “reading-in” requirements of the AME Church, members gain essential information on the basic elements of Christian faith, and the effective practice of Bible study.

You can take the self-paced New Member Orientation online by clicking below.

    Class Leaders

The membership of Reid Temple, like that of every congregation of the A.M.E. Church since its founding, is divided into small organizational groups, called classes. All new or transferring members are assigned to a class after completing their reading-in process. Each class is headed by a Class Leader, who is appointed by the Pastor and trained in the history, structure, and disciplines of the A.M.E. Church.

    Celebration of Life Council

“If you have a birthday, you have a ministry!”

Every other month, Reid Temple’s Celebration of Life Council (CLC) ministry hosts special fellowship activities for all church members born in that month. This creates an instant “spiritual family” for everyone who joins Reid Temple—and it can help YOU move from membership and fellowship to stewardship and discipleship. The CLC also organizes volunteer teams that provide support for other ministries’ service activities so that new members can identify the ministry (or ministries) through which they can best serve the church as disciples.
