And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Pastoral Retirement Celebration: Rev. Dr. Mark E. Whitlock, Jr.

The Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church family invites you to join us as we celebrate the retirement of our Pastor, Reverend Dr. Mark E. Whitlock, Jr., following 34 years of faithful pastoral ministry, including seven impactful years at Reid Temple alongside his wife, our First Lady and Executive Minister, Reverend Hermia Shegog Whitlock, Esq.

This special celebration will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the 9:30 a.m. worship service, held both in person and online.

Our celebration theme is “Building the Beloved Community: A Faithful Shepherd’s Legacy.” Following worship, a Legacy Celebration and reception will be held in the church fellowship hall.

For more than three decades, Pastor Whitlock’s ministry has bridged faith, community transformation, economic empowerment, education, and public health advocacy, leaving a lasting impact in congregations and communities from California to Maryland.

We invite all who have been touched by their ministry to join us as we honor their extraordinary service and celebrate a legacy that will continue to bless generations to come.
